National Service Allowances to Increase Next Year- Director General

Kumasi, Ghana - 18 June, 2025 -The National Service Authority (NSA) has assured prospective national service personnel of a possible increase in allowances for the upcoming service year.
According to Director General Felix Gyamfi, the authority is engaging with the Finance Ministry to review allowances upward, which will be reflected in the national budget.
“There is a window for us to include it in the budget very soon. The thing that I am certain about is that the new cohorts will most likely receive the new allowances,” he added.
Speaking at a pre-service orientation in Kumasi, Mr. Gyamfi expressed confidence that the new cohorts will benefit from the revised allowances. The NSA has released PIN codes for 132,393 prospective personnel, a figure 26% lower than the previous three years. This reduction is attributed to stricter validation protocols and increased transparency, which have helped eliminate inflated or fraudulent submissions.
The authority believes the reduced enrolment figures will enable the government to save costs and improve remuneration for personnel.
“If we do a calculation of seven hundred and fifty cedis as against the number that we are saving, you will immediately see the number being saved,” he added.
Mr. Gyamfi also encouraged Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) to absorb service personnel, highlighting the sector's potential for economic development. He noted that SMEs, particularly those in vibrant markets like Abossey Okai and Suame Magazine, could benefit from national service personnel.
“If you are a one-man business and we access your business, find out that whatever you are doing is tangible, we can send people there.
“Why are national service people not posted to Abossey Okai, Kokompe and Suame Magazine? They have billions in the sector; most of these businesses that sell car parts are bigger than some IT businesses in terms of capital,” he observed.
He disclosed that the NSA will post 10,000 personnel for military training, with the Secretariat determining the selection process. According to him, the course outline prioritizes discipline, alertness, and emergency response.
