FDA Warns Public Against Consuming Unlicensed 'Kings Orange Liqueur and Jupiter 1990'

Accra, Ghana - 19 May, 2025 - Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has issued a warning to the public about two alcoholic beverages, Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur and Jupiter 1990, citing health risks due to the presence of cannabis extracts.
The FDA has deemed these products dangerous for human consumption, noting that they are unregistered and believed to be produced illegally by a company based in the Ashunar Region.
The FDA had previously taken action against one of the products, Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur, after discovering traces of marijuana during a routine inspection in July 2023. This led to the closure of the production facility, cancellation of the company's license, and referral of the case to the police for further investigation.
The FDA in a statement, is urging the public to avoid these products and report any instances of sale or distribution to the nearest FDA office. Consumers are advised to prioritize their health and safety by choosing only FDA-approved products.
