Flower Pot Interchange is a legacy for future generations - Akufo-Addo
Accra, Ghana - Nov 19, 2024 - President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned the highly anticipated Flower Pot Interchange in Accra, a monumental infrastructure project aimed at streamlining traffic flow in the city.
During the ceremony, he emphasized the interchange's significance as a legacy for future generations, urging Ghanaians to take ownership of its maintenance to ensure its long-term functionality.
Key Features of the Flower Pot Interchange
- Enhanced Connectivity: The interchange facilitates movement from areas like Cantonments, Burma Camp, East Legon, Spintex, and Tema, improving residents' quality of life.
- Improved Road Network: The project includes a new road through the old tunnel at East Legon, an extra 200 meters of road connecting Cantonments, and a redesigned Flower Pot roundabout.
- Pedestrian Safety: Pedestrian walkways are installed on each side of the flyover, ensuring a safer commute for both drivers and pedestrians.
- Road Furniture: The interchange boasts streetlights, road markings, and traffic signals to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
Akufo-Addo stressed the importance of road safety, encouraging commuters to adhere to traffic laws and exercise caution while utilizing the newly inaugurated Spintex-Flower Pot route.
“The Flower Pot Interchange is a legacy for future generations. I call on the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the newly established National Roads Authority, traditional rulers, commuters, and all Ghanaians to join hands in safeguarding this asset for future generations in ensuring that it serves its purpose for the long term.”
“I also urge motorists to exercise caution, let us prioritise safety, and respect road regulations,'' he added.
