Election 2024: Be fair in your duties - Prof. Opoku-Agyemang tells Security Services
As Ghana inches closer to its general elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Presidential candidate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has emphasized the need for security personnel, media practitioners, and other stakeholders to uphold the integrity of the electoral process ahead of the December 7 polls.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, December 1 in Cape Coast, she encouraged security services to consider the prevailing economic hardships when casting their votes on Monday's Special voting exercise stressing that these conditions should inform their decision-making.
She underscored the importance of fairness, balance, and accuracy in the electoral process.
“You know we protested against people coming to the District to vote and a lot of them will be first-time voters. The old system of bringing the voters close to where they vote would have saved us a lot of public education.
“This is where we are now and we are hoping for the best. I don’t think there was any time that the NDC was in government that the media or police had to go to another country because they couldn’t work in their own country.
“There was never a situation where a media person was picked up from his or her office because he or she spoke against the government and so the NDC has been fair to the media and police,” she added.
