EC to shred and reprint ballot papers for Volta and Ahafo Regions
Accra, Ghana - Nov 16, 2024 - Ghana's Electoral Commission has decided to destroy faulty ballot papers for the Volta and Ahafo Regions due to discrepancies in serialization.
This move comes after the Commission's automated system failed to ensure precise serial numbers, and the manual process implemented by the Printing House was deemed unreliable.
The destruction process will be transparent, with representatives from various political parties witnessing the shredding and incineration of the faulty ballot papers.
In a statement released on Nov 16, 2024, the EC stated that a Destruction Certificate will also be issued and signed by the observers with Buck Press and Acts Commercials having been tasked with reprinting the ballot papers for the affected regions.
“The re-printing of the ballot papers for Ahafo and Volta Regions will be undertaken by Buck Press and Acts Commercials respectively. As has always been the case, the affected ballot papers will be shredded and incinerated (burned). Both activities will be witnessed by Agents of the Political Parties and a Destruction Certificate will be issued and signed by them.”
