EC presents certified voters' register to political parties
Accra, Ghana - Nov 6, 2024 - The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has officially presented the final voters' register to political parties. This register contains the names of eligible voters for the upcoming polls, scheduled for December 7, 2024.
EC Chairperson Jean Mensa emphasized the register's crucial role in ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process during a meeting with political party representatives in Accra on November 6.
Mensa noted that the commission had resolved all 158 issues raised by voters across the country following the exhibition of the revised Provisional Voters Register (PVR).
“At the meeting of IPAC on the 15th of October, we indicated that this presentation would be made to you at the end of the first week of November. However, with the help of God, we have been able to do that two days before the 8th which signifies the end of the first week of November.
“Following the exhibition of the revised PVR, the commission received a total of 158 issues from voters across the country.
“I am pleased to note that all the issues have been resolved and as we speak, we have no further issues regarding the final voters register…I am pleased to note that we now have a robust and credible final certified voters register which is fit to deliver a credible transparent, fair, peaceful and glorious election come the 7th of December 2024,” she said.
Mensa's announcement comes after the EC's efforts to clean up the voters' register, including correcting discrepancies and removing anomalies. The commission had previously released the revised provisional voters' register, allowing political parties to review and report any issues.
