EC debunks false claims on voting schedule - Presidential elections won’t be held on different days
Jean Mensa is Ghana's Electoral Commissioner

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has issued a statement urging the public to disregard claims circulating on social media that presidential candidates will be voted for on separate days during the upcoming December general elections.

According to the EC, these claims are false and likely to disturb the public peace. The commission has reassured voters that the 2024 election will take place on December 7, 2024, with voting scheduled from 7 am to 5 pm.

The statement comes after the arrest of Kumasi-based radio and television presenter Oheneba Nana Asiedu, who was charged with publishing false news. Asiedu was granted bail by the Ghana Police Service after his arrest on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

The EC has encouraged voters to cast their ballots in an orderly manner and has assured the public that the commission is working to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
