Declare your Assets - President Mahama tells Ministers
Accra, Ghana - Jan 22, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has directed his newly sworn-in ministers to declare their assets, emphasizing transparency and accountability in his administration.
According to him, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, will ensure compliance with this directive, with a cutoff date to be announced for submitting assets declaration forms to the Auditor-General.
”I expect all of you to begin the process of declaring your assets. The Chief of Staff will announce the cutoff date by which time all eligible appointees should have deposited their assets declaration forms with the Auditor General. I wish all of you good luck in your duties, and I pledge to work with you in the future,'' he stated.
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Mahama outlined specific expectations for key ministers.
Energy Minister John Jinapor was tasked with providing a stable and efficient power supply. “To you, John Jinapor, Ghanaians are looking for a stable and efficient power supply,” he said.
While Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson was charged with stabilizing the cedi, reducing inflation, and bringing the national debt to sustainable levels.
''To you Dr Ato Forson, Ghanaians expect you to reduce inflation, make life more comfortable. They expect you to bring the national public debt to sustainable levels, they are looking to you to stabilise our currency and to bring down inflation,'' Mahama added.
The ministers sworn in include:
- Minister for Education: Haruna Iddrisu
- Minister for Finance: Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson
- Minister for Energy and Green Transition: John Jinapor
- Attorney-General and Minister for Justice: Dr. Dominic Ayine
- Minister for Roads and Highways: Governs Kwame Agbodza
- Minister for Food and Agriculture: Eric Opoku
