Mahama Swears in Ato Forson, Jinapor, Haruna Iddrisu, three other Ministers
Accra, Ghana - 22 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in six new ministers, marking a significant step in forming his administration. The ministers, approved by Parliament on Tuesday, underwent rigorous vetting and debate before their appointment.
The newly sworn-in ministers include:
- Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance
- Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General
- John Jinapor as Minister for Energy and Green Transition
- Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education
- Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture
- Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways
During the swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House, President Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to a lean and efficient administration, capping ministerial appointments at 60. He noted that deputy ministers would be appointed to some ministries, bringing the total number of ministers to 60.
President Mahama also reassured Ghanaians of his dedication to serving their interests, emphasizing that he is committed to serving at the pleasure of the people.
“As the ministers are approved by Parliament and as they are sworn in, I will proceed to name deputy ministers for some of the ministries, which will bring the total number of ministers to 60. I am here to serve at the pleasure of Ghanaians,'' he stated
In a special address to Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the new Finance Minister, President Mahama highlighted the importance of stabilizing the nation's currency, saying that citizens are counting on him to deliver.
''Citizens are counting on you to stabilize the nation’s currency,'' Mahama stated.
