Mahama Reassigns Edward Bawa to Lead GOIL

Accra, Ghana - 13 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has reassigned Edward Bawa, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to take the helm at GOIL, the nation's leading indigenous oil marketing company.

In a surprise move, Bawa, who was appointed to head GNPC on January 16, 2025, replacing Joseph Dadzie, has been tasked with leading GOIL, effective immediately and this has sparked widespread interest in the energy sector.

The reasons behind the sudden reassignment remain unclear.

The former Member of Parliament for Bongo Constituency, who was appointed to head GNPC on January 16, 2025, replacing Joseph Dadzie, will now lead GOIL, a major player in Ghana's downstream petroleum industry.

The move leaves the position of GNPC CEO vacant.
