Dampare 'Went into Hiding' Amid Post-Election Violence, it took A Dent on His Record' - Ahiagbah
Dr. George Akuffo Dampare is former Inspector General of Police of Ghana

Accra, Ghana - 15 March, 2025 - A blistering criticism has been leveled against Ghana's former police chief, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, by Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), who accused him of inaction in the face of post-election violence.

Speaking on Channel One TV's "The Big Issue" on Saturday, Ahiagbah expressed his disappointment with Dampare's handling of the situation. He claimed that Dampare "went into hiding" instead of addressing the violence, fearing backlash from various groups.

''If you saw immediately after the election, the violence that was happening and we having an IGP and the silence that came after the election when it was clear the NDC has won.

“He completely went into hiding because he didn’t want to do anything and rub anybody the wrong way.'

“So he took a hiding and for me is a dent on his record,'' he added.
