The family of late Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba has officially recognized Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, as the musician's wife, dismissing claims by Akosua Serwah Fosuh, who asserts she is the legally wedded wife.

According to a letter signed by Fati Ali-Yallah of Baba Jamal & Associates, the legal team for the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta, Odo Broni lived with Daddy Lumba for over 15 years and had six children with him. The family maintains that Odo Broni is the recognized wife of the late musician.

The dispute arose when Akosua Serwah Fosuh, who claims to be Daddy Lumba's first wife, filed a lawsuit at the Kumasi High Court seeking to be declared the sole surviving spouse of the late musician. She also requested exclusive rights to perform the widowhood and funeral rites of Daddy Lumba.

However, the Fosu Royal Family, through their lawyers, has refuted these claims, stating that Akosua Serwah Fosuh deserted Daddy Lumba about 15 years ago when he fell seriously ill and refused to relocate to Ghana to care for him. The family asserts that she later performed customary rites to dissolve their marriage, which is recognized under Akan customary practice.

The lawyers emphasized that Akosua Serwah Fosuh has no authority to determine how the family should organize Daddy Lumba's funeral. They revealed that the law firm holds instructions from Daddy Lumba before his demise, which will guide the family on his preferred funeral arrangements and the handling of his estate.

The family has called for calm and urged all parties to engage in peaceful discussions to ensure a dignified and befitting burial for the late music icon. All assets belonging to Daddy Lumba will be managed jointly by the family and his children to ensure fair distribution.

The development has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some sympathizing with Akosua Serwah Fosuh and others supporting Odo Broni's claim. Some users questioned the legitimacy of Odo Broni's marriage to Daddy Lumba, while others argued that Akosua Serwah Fosuh had abandoned her husband when he needed her most.

The case highlights the complexities of traditional and civil marriages in Ghana and the need for clear guidelines on inheritance and funeral arrangements. As the family prepares to lay Daddy Lumba to rest on December 6, 2025, it remains to be seen how the court will rule on Akosua Serwah Fosuh's lawsuit.
