CLOGSAG declares nationwide strike on November 7 over delayed salary
Accra, Ghana - Nov 4, 2024 -The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) is set to embark on a nationwide strike starting November 7, 2024, due to the government's delay in finalizing a new salary structure.
This isn't the first time CLOGSAG has taken this stance; they previously initiated a strike in July 2024, despite efforts by the National Labour Commission to intervene.
The current situation stems from the government's failure to implement the proposed salary structure, despite signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) one and a half years ago.
CLOGSAG's Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, has in a statement, expressed doubts about the January 1, 2025 implementation date and has ceased engagement with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission's CEO, Benjamin Arthur, citing bad faith.
“As a result of the long delay in the completion of a New Salary Structure and other Conditions of Service for the Staff of Civil Service and Local Government Service, the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has no than to ask our members to stay at home on Thursday, November 7th.”
