Bawumia Visits Ntim Fordjou in Show of Support After Alleged Harassment

Accra, Ghana - 10 April, 2025 - Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has thanked former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for visiting his home after a 'politically motivated' incident of harassment.

The MP, who is also the Ranking Member on Parliament's Defence and Interior Committee, claimed the incident was an attempt to intimidate him. Dr. Bawumia's visit was seen as a show of support for the legislator.

National Investigations Bureau operatives attempted to surround Ntim Fordjour's home on April 9, but NPP supporters intervened, thwarting their efforts. Fordjour accused the NDC government of trying to stifle lawmakers' oversight powers in a social media post.

He expressed gratitude to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for visiting his home after the incident, which Fordjour described as a "politically-motivated lawless act of harassment".

“Thank you very much HE Dr Mahamudu Bawumia @MBawumia for the visit to my residence this evening following the politically-motivated lawless act of harassment in the attempt of the NDC government to gag MPs from exercising their legitimate oversight,” he wrote.
