Accra, Ghana - 30 Jan, 2025 - Minister-designate for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, has vowed to improve working conditions for public sector employees, emphasizing fair wages and enhanced productivity.

Speaking before Parliament's Appointments Committee, Dr. Pelpuo praised Ghanaian workers for driving the nation's economy, acknowledging their dedication and hard work.

Dr. Pelpuo's commitment aligns with the importance of conscientiousness in the workplace, a trait characterized by carefulness, thoughtfulness, and thoroughness. Conscientious employees, like those Dr. Pelpuo described, are diligent, reliable, and strive to perform well in their roles.

To achieve his goals, Dr. Pelpuo proposed policy measures focusing on fair and equitable wages, as well as initiatives to boost productivity. He recognized the need for a policy direction to support Ghanaian workers in producing high-quality work, ultimately leading to competitive salaries.

“I think it’s a major area and I will be tackling it. I’m happy I will do it if you do approve my nomination because it’s a big question for all Ghanaians.

“I know that the Ghanaian worker is very conscientious, very committed, very hardworking. But we need a kind of policy direction to help him produce more so that we can pay and know that we’re paying something worthwhile. We will be committing ourselves to working at it,'' he added.
