President Petr Pavel Unveils €75.5m Czech Sponsored State-of-the-Art Hospital in Kpone

Kpone, Greater Accra Region, Ghana - 10 April, 2025 - Ghana and the Czech Republic have marked a significant milestone in healthcare cooperation with the official commissioning of the Kpone Municipal Hospital in the Greater Accra Region.

This modern facility,VAMED Health Projects CZ s.r.o.,is a major step forward in improving access to quality healthcare for Ghanaians.

The Kpone Municipal Hospital boasts an impressive range of medical amenities, including an Outpatient Department, Surgical Suite, Delivery Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Laboratory, Pharmacy, and a 40-bed inpatient ward.

The hospital's facilities are designed to provide comprehensive care to patients, from emergency services to specialized treatment.

The €75.5 million project was funded through financing secured from Erste Group Bank AG and Ceska Sporitelna a.s., with an export credit guarantee of €8.612 million provided by EGAP—the Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation of the Czech Republic.

This investment is part of a broader initiative to improve healthcare infrastructure in Ghana.

Ghana's Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, emphasized the government's commitment to completing and operationalizing hospital projects across the country.

He also highlighted the importance of putting commissioned facilities to use, ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all Ghanaians.

Unveiling the edifice, Czech Republic's President, Petr Pavel, reaffirmed his country's commitment to supporting Ghana's development in the health sector.

This partnership demonstrates the strong ties between the two nations and their shared goal of improving healthcare outcomes.
