Bawumia promises to revolutionize Ghana's agriculture sector
Ashanti Region, Ghana - Nov 4, 2024 - The New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has unveiled an ambitious plan to revolutionize Ghana's agricultural sector.
Speaking in the Ashanti Region on Monday, November 4, Dr. Bawumia pledged to establish processing plants in districts with a competitive advantage in specific agricultural products. This move aims to enhance agriculture nationwide and prioritize farmers' financial stability.
“The number one priority of my government will be agriculture, the reason is that the majority of Ghanaians are farmers. Over 60% of the population are farmers, so if farmers are financially stable, Ghana will also prosper," he stated.
“I want to support farmers with finances, technologies, irrigation and expertise. Just like we did in the area of Planting for Food and Jobs, we want to continue in that regard. We will assist farmers who are into competitive crop cultivation with a processing facility," he added.
Bawumia's Agricultural Development Plan
- Establish processing plants in competitive districts
- Augment district agricultural mechanization centers
- Provide access to mechanized equipment for farmers
- Support farmers with finances, technologies, irrigation, and expertise
Mining Sector Development
During his visit to Atwima Mponua, a mining community in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia outlined plans to promote responsible mining practices.
“We will help miners to mine in a responsible manner. We will let the Geological Survey detect where the gold is located through their map so that they [miners] don’t try and error. We will license mining as well so that you are not harrassed to stop work, but will mine responsibly
