Bagbin Commissions State-of-the-Art Lab 14 in Kaleo to Enhance STEM Learning

Kaleo, Upper West Region, Ghana - 29 March, 2025 - Ghana's Upper West Region has taken a significant leap forward in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education with the launch of the Yamoransa Model Lab 14 in Kaleo.

The state-of-the-art facility, commissioned by Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, is expected to bridge the technological gap in the region and equip students with modern skills.

Speaker Bagbin expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in the project, including the Helping Africa Foundation, IMPLEMENTERS, TECID, the Ghana Education Service, and the Nadowan-Kaleo District Assembly, for their tireless efforts in bringing the initiative to life.

The lab, described as "the most modern of its kind," boasts cutting-edge EduLab facilities, robotics equipment, and a solar-powered infrastructure.

According to Kafui Prebbie, Group CEO of Prebbie Group, its impact is expected to be felt across the region, with over 390,000 students already benefiting from similar initiatives across Ghana, Gambia, and Liberia.

“This facility is a game-changer for education in our district. It will equip our students with modern technological skills and ensure they are not left behind in this digital era,” he stated.

While the launch has been hailed as a historic milestone, concerns remain about low girls' enrollment in the region due to early labor migration.

Efforts are underway to address this issue through community engagement and initiatives that encourage girls to stay in school and pursue learning.
