Ato Forson, Jinapor, and Ayine set to be vetted today
Accra, Ghana - 13 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's Parliament is set to grill the first batch of ministerial nominees, starting with Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Majority Leader and MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam, who's been tipped for the Finance Minister role.
This comes at a critical time for Ghana's economy, which is struggling with high inflation, rising public debt, and demands for sustainable reforms.
The Appointments Committee, constituted just four days ago, will scrutinize Forson's qualifications and plans for the Finance Ministry. Next in line is John Abdulai Jinapor, the nominee for Energy Minister, who'll face questions on how he intends to tackle Ghana's energy sector woes, including unreliable power supply and sector debt.
Wrapping up the vetting process will be Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, the proposed Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. As a seasoned legal expert and former Deputy Attorney-General, Ayine is expected to play a crucial role in promoting the rule of law and driving legal reforms in Ghana
