Armed Men Storm Former Bank of Ghana Governor's Home in Dawn Raid

Accra, Ghana - 20 March, 2025 - A reported dawn raid on the private residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, has left the former governor and his family traumatized.
The operation, which took place at Roman Ridge in Accra on Wednesday, March 19, was carried out by about 15 heavily armed men, suspected to be operatives from the National Security Secretariat.
According to Asaase News, the armed men, who arrived in three separate vehicles, forcefully entered the premises, disabling the CCTV system before demanding that Dr. Addison lead them to supposed "vaults" hidden within the house. Dr. Addison denied having any such vaults or caches of money on his property, but the operatives proceeded to ransack the residence, leaving the property in disarray.
When their search yielded no results, the operatives seized four of Dr. Addison's vehicles, which were later retrieved by the family. The CCTV monitor and control unit were also confiscated.
This incident comes just a month after a similar raid on the home of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in Accra.
