Afia Schwarzenegger's Comments Land Her in Hot Water as Sammy Gyamfi Sues for GH₵10 Million

Accra, Ghana – 23 July, 2025  National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and CEO of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) Sammy Gyamfi, has filed a defamation lawsuit against media personality Afia Schwarzenegger. The suit, filed at the Accra High Court, demands GH₵10 million in damages over allegations of extramarital affairs and lavish spending.

The Allegations

Afia Schwarzenegger allegedly claimed in a viral TikTok video that Gyamfi buys cars for girls at the University of Ghana and has a "list" of these girls. She also attempted to link Gyamfi's wife's family to unexplained wealth acquisition in the United States, citing a house purchase by his wife's younger sister. Gyamfi denies these allegations, describing them as "false, malicious, and deliberately contrived" to damage his reputation.

 

Gyamfi is seeking:

A Declaration: That Afia Schwarzenegger's publication constitutes defamation

General Damages: For defamation

Exemplary Damages: GH₵10 million

Perpetual Injunction: Restraining Afia Schwarzenegger from making further defamatory publications

Public Retraction and Apology: To be published in The Daily Graphic and on TikTok

Legal Costs: Including counsel's fees

Gyamfi asserts that the allegations have triggered widespread concern and damaged his public image, prompting him to take legal action against Afia Schwarzenegger.
