Appointments Committee Gives Linda Ocloo Thumbs Up in Lightning-Fast Vetting Session

Accra, Ghana - 28 Jan, 2025 - In a swift and unprecedented move, Linda Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister-designate, completed her vetting by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee in record time, taking less than 10 minutes.

This unexpected turn of events occurred on Tuesday, January 28, during which committee members did not pose any questions to the nominee. What's even more remarkable is that committee members didn't ask her a single question. Instead, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin praised her delegation, citing it as proof of her competence to lead the ministry.

In stark contrast, Defence Minister-nominee Omane Boamah faced a grueling five-hour questioning session from the committee.

Ocloo's vetting is part of the ongoing process to assess President John Mahama's ministerial nominees. The Appointments Committee has been conducting vetting sessions since January 20, 2025, evaluating nominees' qualifications, experience, and readiness to lead their respective ministries.
