Akufo-Addo Unveils Transition Team to Facilitate Handover to Mahama
Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo has unveiled a transition team to ensure a seamless transfer of power to the incoming administration. The team, comprising key government officials, will be co-chaired by President Akufo-Addo and President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday Dec 10. The transition team includes notable figures such as Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff, and Godfred Yeboah Dame, Attorney-General. Other members include ministers responsible for finance, interior, defence, foreign affairs, local government, and national security.
The team's inauguration is scheduled for December 11, 2024, and will mark the beginning of a collaborative effort to maintain governance stability and ensure a smooth transition. President Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his commitment to this process, emphasizing its importance in strengthening Ghana's democratic credentials.
President Akufo-Addo has also appointed former Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, to the Advisory Council, with the current Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, as Chairperson.
