Alan Kyerematen predicts victory in December polls
Accra, Ghana - October 30, 2024 - Alan Kyerematen, leader and founder of the Movement for Change, has expressed strong confidence in his prospects for the upcoming December elections, predicting an unexpected result.
His campaign, focused on addressing the needs of ordinary Ghanaians, has seemingly resonated with the public, striking a chord that established parties may have missed.
Kyerematen's optimism stems from what he describes as a groundswell of organic support across the country. During a recent tour of Accra's markets, he witnessed firsthand the excitement and enthusiasm of the people he met. This personal connection has bolstered his belief in a potential upset.
The former Minister of Trade and Industry under President Nana Akufo-Addo's administration, who parted ways with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after losing the flagbearership race, is now leading his own independent movement.
Addressing the media after touring some markets in Accra, Kyerematen cautioned against misinterpreting crowd sizes at rallies and election events, emphasizing that the NPP's actual dedicated voter base is limited, numbering fewer than one million.
“You can see the euphoria, the organic love that the ordinary people are showing towards me. And so there is going to be a big surprise in December. At any rate, I was a founding member of NPP.
“I know that the NPP does not have more than one million committed voters. Don’t be fooled by the numbers. The numbers that you find during elections do not represent the reality,'' he stated.
