Accra, Ghana – September 3,2025 - In a strongly worded statement released on September 3, 2025, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) condemned threats of death and physical assault against several of its high-ranking officials by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The statement, signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, denounced the actions of Chief Sofo Azorka, 1st National Vice Chairman of the NDC, and Alhaji Abdul Wahab Amadu, Abuakwa North Constituency communication officer of the NDC.

According to the NPP, threats of death were made against Minority Leader Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye, and Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh. Additionally, the party condemned the physical attack on its 3rd National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Osman Masawudu, allegedly carried out by Chief Sofo Azorka and his associates.

The NPP emphasized that such violent conduct undermines the gains of Ghana's democracy and has the potential to create further insecurity in the country. This comes in the wake of Ghana's decline in the Global Peace Index Ranking. The party announced its intention to formally lodge complaints with the Ghana Police Service against the individuals involved.

"We are also calling on the Inspector General of Police, as part of his post-election actions, to immediately arrest and investigate Chief Sofo Azorka, Alhaji Abdul Wahab, and any other person captured in the videos widely circulated in the media," the statement read. The NPP stressed that the recklessness of the actions of Chief Sofo Azorka and Alhaji Abdul Wahab ought to be properly investigated and punished.
