Accra, Ghana - 22 March, 2025 - The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party's Council of Elders Hackman Owusu Agyemang has condemned former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Adwoa Safo for publicly criticizing party leaders, deeming her actions unacceptable.

This development comes amid growing tensions within the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, where Safo, a former Member of Parliament, has been accused of undermining the party's efforts.

According to Owusu Agyemang, the party will no longer tolerate Safo's media attacks.

“She has completely gone out of order, and the General Secretary has stated that she will be referred to the disciplinary committee,” he said.

“She must cease all public statements regarding the party. She has broken the rules, and this is unacceptable.”

“And as a party, we would apply the necessary regulations and then see what we can do but for the time being, we are dismayed by her actions, especially considering her past senior roles in government and our party.''

The NPP has drawn a line in the sand, warning that it will no longer tolerate Adwoa Safo's public criticism of party leaders.

“So Adwoa is being asked to stop all the utterances, all the interviews and whatever she is doing. It is a human institution, she’s gone wrong and we are telling her to seize whatever she is doing with these utterances,” he stated.

“We will see how we will do going forward, and I hope she will adhere to what we have said, the General Secretary has said in his release,” Owusu Agyeman added.

The party has referred Safo to its disciplinary committee, citing her disregard for party directives. Safo has been vocal about her perceived unfair treatment, claiming there was a character assassination against her.

However, the party maintains that her actions undermine efforts to rebuild and move forward.

The situation has escalated, with reports emerging that Safo was ambushed by NPP hierarchy at her home, preventing her from leaving for a scheduled interview. The party's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has issued statements emphasizing the need for calm and unity among members.

As the NPP seeks to address the growing tensions within the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Safo's future within the party remains uncertain.

The party's leadership has made it clear that she must cease all public statements regarding the party, adhering to the necessary regulations to resolve the situation.
