South Dayi MP empowers Okada riders with GH₵736,800 licences
South Dayi, Volta Region - The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Hon. Rockson Nelson Etse Dafeamekpor, has distributed 614 Okada riders' licenses valued at GH₵1,200 each to empower the youth in his constituency.
The initiative, totaling GH₵736,800, aims to uplift the livelihoods of Okada riders who rely on the business due to poor road conditions in the area.
Despite Ghana's laws forbidding the use of motorbikes for commercial activities, the practice has become commonplace nationwide due to factors such as poor roads and traffic congestion.
Beneficiaries of the Okada license initiative have expressed their gratitude, stating that the licenses have given them peace of mind and the ability to operate without fear of arrest.
"This license gives me peace of mind. Now I can ride without fear of being arrested," One rider stated.
