Military Training for National Service Personnel Kicks Off August 2025

Accra, Ghana - 27 April, 2025 - Ghana's National Service Authority has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to equip National Service Personnel with basic military training, as part of the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme.
The programme, championed by President John Dramani Mahama, aims to instill discipline, patriotism, and physical fitness among graduates.
High-level consultations between the National Service Authority and the Ghana Armed Forces have begun, with the military command expressing full support for the initiative. Director-General of the National Service Authority, Felix Gyamfi, hailed the programme as transformative, emphasizing its potential to reset the country's youth development trajectory.
“The introduction of this military training is a step in the right direction and must be embraced by all and sundry as one of the indicators for resetting the country, particularly the youth,” he stated.
The training program, set to begin on August 3, 2025, will last up to two months and include military drills and exercises aimed at instilling civic duty and national service values in National Service Personnel.
The Ghana Armed Forces has pledged to deliver the required training, with Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye assuring that the military is prepared to support the programme.
