Accra, Ghana - October 23, 2024 - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commended Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin for his exceptional leadership during Tuesday's chaotic parliamentary session.

General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey lauded Bagbin's approach, describing it as a model of parliamentary leadership.

The session was marked by heated disputes between NPP and NDC MPs over which caucus holds the Majority. Despite the turmoil, Bagbin's maturity and balanced handling of the session earned him praise from the NDC.

They believe his leadership has bolstered Parliament's credibility and expressed optimism that he will continue to uphold the institution's independence.

Parliamentary Proceedings Adjourned Indefinitely

Following the tumultuous session, Speaker Bagbin announced the indefinite adjournment of parliamentary proceedings. This move came after a communication from the Supreme Court, directing him to stay his earlier ruling that declared four parliamentary seats vacant.

However, Bagbin did not elaborate on the details of the communication.

The NDC's statement, issued on October 22, highlighted Bagbin's commitment to safeguarding the interests of both Parliament and the nation. "We applaud him for working in the interest of Parliament and the people of Ghana and enhancing the integrity of Parliament with his leadership," the statement read.
