NDC files injunction to stop EC from printing ballot papers for Amenfi Central
Joana Cudjoe is the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi Central

Accra, Ghana - October 17, 2024 - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken legal action against the Electoral Commission (EC), filing an injunction application to halt the printing of parliamentary ballot papers and notice of poll for the Amenfi Central constituency.

This move follows the EC's disqualification of the NDC's parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe.

The disqualification stems from an interlocutory injunction issued by the Sekondi High Court, which prohibits the EC from recognizing Cudjoe as the NDC's candidate.

The NDC is challenging this decision, arguing that the EC's actions are unjustified.

The development has sparked tensions between the NDC and the EC, with the party questioning the commission's impartiality. The dispute may have significant implications for the upcoming elections and the representation of the Amenfi Central constituency.

According to the Electoral Commission's website, the printing of 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections ballot papers was scheduled to commence.

However, the NDC's injunction application seeks to delay this process for the Amenfi Central constituency until the issue is resolved.

This is not the first time the NDC has expressed concerns about the EC's handling of the election process. In recent weeks, the party has publicly criticized the commission's decisions, alleging bias and unfair treatment.
