I'm not affiliated to any political party - Asamoah Gyan

Accra, Ghana - September 11, 2024 - Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has announced his decision to disaffiliate himself from all political parties in Ghana.

In a surprise move, Gyan took to social media to declare that he will no longer be involved in politics, citing a desire to focus on his humanitarian work and give back to the youth of Ghana.

Despite being appointed chairman of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia's Youth and Sports Manifesto sub-committee in February 2024, and participating in a campaign walk in Akropong last month, Gyan has declared that he will no longer engage in partisan activities.

In a statement posted on X, Gyan vowed to continue his philanthropic efforts, helping the youth of Ghana in his own small way, without any political affiliations.

"I haven’t been fair to the youth and the people of Ghana. Henceforth I am not affiliated to any political party. I will continue with my humanitarian work and help the youth of Ghana in my own small way. Nothing political. I wish all the political parties a peaceful election on the December 7 elections. God bless our homeland Ghana. Thank you," the statment read.

The former football star also wished all political parties a peaceful election on December 7th, calling for God's blessings on the homeland, Ghana.
