Galamsey: You'll be sacked if you join nationwide strike - Ghana Meteorological Agency tells staff
Accra, Ghana - October 9, 2024 - In a stern warning, the Board Chairman of the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet), Isaac Amoo has directed staff to refrain from participating in the nationwide strike called by Organised Labour, set to begin on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
Speaking at GMet's headquarters in Accra, Amoo emphasized that absenting oneself in line with the strike directive would result in automatic termination.
Amoo stressed that GMet's operations are vital to national security, particularly in providing essential weather data for sectors like aviation, agriculture, and emergency services.
The agency's critical role in safeguarding lives and properties through accurate weather predictions cannot be compromised, he underscored.
“GMET is part of the essential services of this country. So, on behalf of the board and leadership of this agency, I want to announce to you that GMET does not approve any of its workers to join the nationwide strike and any worker who will flout the directive should consider himself or herself as having terminated his or her appointment,” he stated.
