GES Orders Affected Teachers to Validate Appointments by March 14

Accra, Ghana - 06 March, 2025 - Ghana's education authorities have embarked on a nationwide exercise to verify the credentials of thousands of teachers, following concerns over irregularities in the recruitment process.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has given affected staff just over a week to provide documentation to support their appointments, amid fears that some teachers may have been hired without proper qualifications or vetting.

The validation exercise, which is expected to be completed by March 14, is aimed at cleaning up the GES payroll database and ensuring that only qualified teachers are employed in the country's schools.

The GES in a statement noted that, regional committees have been set up to oversee the validation process, which will involve scrutinizing appointment letters, academic certificates, licensure certificate and national service certificate.

Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, Acting Director-General of GES urged all affected staff to cooperate fully with the exercise.
