Four Ghanaian students arrested for alleged transcript forgery at US University

Four Ghanaian students at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania face forgery and related charges for allegedly submitting falsified high school transcripts to secure admission.

Otis Opoku, Evans Oppong, Cyrilstan Nomobon Sowah-Nai, and Henry Dabuo were accused of inflating their grades, leading to the rescinding of their admission. An investigation initiated by Lehigh's Vice Provost of Admissions and Financial Aid, Dan Werner, uncovered the discrepancies.

The students received substantial financial aid packages:

- Otis Opoku (2022): $212,933.30
- Cyrilstan Nomobon Sowah-Nai (2023): $127,213.70
- Henry Dabuo (2023): $129,244

Arrested and arraigned on September 9, 2024, they face preliminary hearings on September 24. Bail is set at $100,000.

This incident highlights concerns about transcript authenticity and the integrity of the college admissions process.
