'FixTheCountry ' Activist freed after Airport arrest
Ralph St Williams, (left) also known as "Fellow Ghanaians," was detained while en route to Kumasi for the SayNoToGalamsey protest

Accra, Ghana - Ralph St. Williams, a prominent member of the FixTheCountry movement, was released on Thursday night after being arrested at Kotoka International Airport.

Williams, also known as "Fellow Ghanaians," was detained while en route to Kumasi for the SayNoToGalamsey protest, scheduled for September 21. The protest aims to raise awareness and mobilize action against illegal mining in the Ashanti region.

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Constitutional Rights and Policy Advisor for the Democracy Hub, confirmed Williams' release during an interview on JoyFM's Super Morning Show.

“Yes, Ralph was released as of last night. He was not charged with any offence,” he said.

Barker-Vormawor expressed concerns over the circumstances surrounding the arrest, citing an apparent attempt to suppress the upcoming protest.
