Mahama set for victory with 52.2% of votes, Bawumia trails with 41.4% - Global InfoAnalytics

A recent poll by research firm Global InfoAnalytics has predicted a decisive victory for John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, in Ghana's upcoming presidential election.

According to the poll, Mahama is expected to secure 52.2% of the vote, edging out his main rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is projected to receive 41.4%.

The poll also forecasts that the NDC will dominate parliamentary seats, with a projected 150 seats, compared to the NPP's 99 seats. Additionally, 29 constituencies are expected to be highly competitive and too close to call.

In terms of regional breakdown, Mahama is predicted to win in major regions such as Greater Accra, Central, Western, Volta, and Bono East. Conversely, Bawumia is likely to retain control in the Ashanti, Eastern, Bono, and North East regions.

The poll also anticipates an average voter turnout of 77.6%, with regional variations contributing to the final results. Global InfoAnalytics has promised a detailed breakdown of constituency predictions after the polls on December 7, 2024.

This prediction is consistent with other forecasts, which suggest that Mahama's experience and popularity will give him an edge over his rivals ². However, it's worth noting that polls can be unpredictable, and the outcome of the election is far from certain.

Ghana's presidential election is scheduled to take place on December 7, 2024. The election is expected to be highly contested, with several candidates vying for the top spot.
