EC commends NDC's call for voter register re-exhibition
Accra, Ghana - October 15, 2024 - The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for advocating the re-exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register ahead of the 2024 general elections.
EC Chairperson Jean Mensa praised the NDC during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on October 15, 2024, citing the initiative's potential to enhance transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.
“The re-exhibition of the Provisional Voter Register has never happened before, indeed this is the first time. And it demonstrates that this commission is a listening one, it’s a commission that is open to receiving feedback for the betterment of its stakeholders'', she stated.
“And we would like to thank the NDC for this idea of re-exhibiting the voters register, it also demonstrates that we’re a transparent commission and that we walk and work with our stakeholders. We are confident with this approach and we believe that we will have a near-perfect final voters register ahead of the 2024 December elections,'' she added.
The NDC previously demanded a multi-stakeholder examination of the EC's IT system to address vulnerabilities.
The EC acknowledged issues, including illegal voter transfers and corrupted files, and is working to resolve them.
