CETAG to embark on fresh strike over unpaid allowances
Accra, Ghana - The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) is set to embark on another strike, just weeks after concluding a nearly two-month-long industrial action.
This decision, according to CETAG, comes after the government failed to honor prior agreements concerning their allowances, despite previous assurances.
CETAG's spokesperson, Dominic Owusu, expressed frustration over the government's inaction.
According to him, the upcoming strike aims to push for meaningful dialogue and secure a satisfactory resolution to CETAG's demands.
“The timeline that we agreed upon which the strike was called off has still not been done. Now, they promised us that by the first week of September, we would have gotten the offline data coming into the college. And then every member in the colleges of education will see where we have been placed by way of the migration and then also check our biodata. But as I speak, we don’t know why they hide the migration offline data.
“Also, they promised us that when the strike is called off, by the end of August, we are going to get the all-year-round compensation for work done in 2022. But as I speak to you right now, we have not received our money.
“They keep telling us that the money will come in their GIFMIS account, but it keeps disappointing and as I speak to you now, we have not gotten our money," he added.
