Hawa Koomson pledges peaceful polls in Awutu Senya East

Awutu Senya East, Ghana - Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson has reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring a peaceful and violence-free electoral process in the upcoming December elections.

Speaking during a peace walk through the principal streets of Kasoa, Koomson reiterated her dedication to maintaining harmony and preventing a repeat of the gun violence that marred the 2020 elections at the Steps to Christ Centre, where several individuals sustained gunshot wounds.

The MP, who has consistently emphasized her resolve to ensure a free and fair process since the 2020 incident, led a massive crowd through the streets, preaching peace and urging constituents to prioritize harmony.

Addressing the gathering, Koomson pledged to work tirelessly to guarantee a violence-free election, ensuring that the democratic process is upheld and the voices of the people are heard without intimidation or fear.

“2024 is an election year and so as NPP faithful, we are gearing up for the big event. On Monday, the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be visiting the constituency to commission some projects. These are all some of the good things about the NPP. I will be filing my nomination so I needed to gather the NPP supporters ahead of that day. But I must also say that as MP I am committed to ensuring peaceful elections in December.

“Even if my opponent comes with violence, I will resist to ensure a peaceful process. We are ready for elections 2024 and it must come without any violence or confrontation. This is because I am the incumbent and my opponents are the ones who want to unseat me, but I remain steadfast to ensure that I win the elections hands down,” Hawa Koomson said.

Meeanwhile, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, who is also the MP for Damongo, praised the accomplishments of Mavis Hawa Koomson and encouraged his constituents to rally behind her.

“The people of Kasoa are blessed to have Mavis Hawa Koomson as their MP because she is doing a great job. This was a woman who was heading the Ministry of Special Development Initiative and she ensured that every constituency got an ambulance.

“She was successful in that Ministry promoting President Akufo Addo to again make her the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development. She is someone who has transformed Kasoa and she deserves a chance to go to Parliament again and bring good things to the people of Awutu Senya East,” Member of Parliament for Damongo Abu Jinapor said.
