Ayew and Amartey snubbed as Otto Addo names squad for AFCON Qualifiers
Accra, Ghana - Head Coach Otto Addo has named a 26-man squad for Ghana's upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, scheduled for early September.
The Black Stars, who last convened in June, will be seeking to build on their consecutive victories over Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Players are expected to report for duty on Monday, September 2, 2024, to begin preparations for the AFCON qualifiers.
The matches are set for September 5 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and September 10 in Berkane.
Coach Addo has retained the core group of players, with no major surprises in the lineup.
Key players such as Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku have all been included in the squad.
The 26-man squad is expected to face a tough test against Angola and Niger, but Coach Addo will be hoping to lead the Black Stars to victory and take a step closer to qualifying for the 2025 AFCON.
