14 Injured in Anaji Collision, Vehicles Severely Damaged

Western Region, Ghana - April 26, 2025 - A devastating collision between a commercial bus and a private saloon car at the Kansaworodu-Apollo junction dual road has left 14 people injured, with eyewitnesses attributing the accident to a dysfunctional traffic signal due to a power outage.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 25, 2025, at approximately 8:00 pm, involving a Toyota Regius bus with registration number GW 4279 20 and an Audi A4 saloon car with registration number GW 4575 11.
The collision happened at the Anaji Choice Mart stretch when the Audi vehicle attempted to curve towards the mart and collided with the bus at the intersection.
All 14 passengers on board the bus, including the driver, were injured, while only the driver of the Audi sustained injuries. Miraculously, three children under the age of 12 escaped unharmed.
The impact shattered most of the glass shields on the bus, except for the driver's door, and severely dented the Audi's ends.
The injured were rushed to the Kwesimintsim Government Hospital in three ambulances for emergency care. The vehicles have been moved from the scene, with the saloon car towed away and the commercial bus relocated a few yards from the intersection.
Eyewitnesses claim that the dysfunctional traffic signal, due to the power outage, contributed to the accident, as both drivers lacked guidance on the road. The incident highlights the need for functional traffic infrastructure to prevent such accidents.
