William Amponsah Smashes Ghana's National 10,000m Record with Blistering 27:47.93

California, USA - 20 April, 2025 - Ghanaian athlete William Amponsah has smashed his own national record in the men's 10,000m, clocking an impressive 27:47.93 seconds at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

The 25-year-old Texas A&M student-athlete's remarkable achievement not only redefined the Ghanaian record but also set a new NCAA Division II standard.

Amponsah's previous record-breaking feat was just last year, and he has now shaved off an astonishing two minutes from his own benchmark. This impressive performance comes on the back of his consecutive NCAA Division II Cross Country individual national titles in 2023 and 2024.

The athlete's sights are now set on the World Athletics Championships, and this new record could pave the way for his inclusion in Ghana's team.
