We're Not Hiding Anything, Black Stars Budget Will Be Made Public Later - Kofi Adams

Accra, Ghana - 16 April, 2025 - Ghana's Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has defended the government's decision to keep the budget for the Black Stars' recent matches against Chad and Madagascar under wraps.
Speaking on Channel One TV's Face to Face, Adams explained that revealing the budget at this stage would be premature and potentially distracting for the team.
The Black Stars have been in action in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, securing impressive wins against Chad and Madagascar. However, amid growing public demands for transparency and accountability in the sports sector, calls have been mounting for the government to disclose the team's expenditure.
Kofi Adams explained that the budget is still being fine-tuned and hasn't been finalized yet. He's hesitant to release it now because it could spark unnecessary speculation and be misinterpreted by the public.
“You will know it when the time comes. I’m saying that I will make it public. Has the National Team ceased playing? We have the next assignment in September; we have matches that we’re going to play. And we will surely make it public,” he said.
According to Adams, releasing a draft budget prematurely wouldn't be fair, and he'll make the details public when the time is right.
“It will be unfair to make a draft budget public, I’m not hiding it,” he stated.
“There’s no way I’m going to allow the Ghana Football Association to delay in presentation of a budget for the September round of matches,” he added.
