WAEC Drops Bombshell: 177 Candidates' BECE Results Cancelled
Accra,Ghana – The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the provisional results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for school candidates, with a significant number of candidates facing sanctions. Specifically, 177 candidates have had their entire results cancelled, and 718 others have had their results cancelled in specific subjects.
According to WAEC, 1,240 candidates have had their subject results withheld, and 93 candidates have had their entire results withheld. The subject results of some candidates from 119 schools have been cancelled, and 87 schools have had their subject results withheld for further scrutiny.
The withheld results may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations by September 6, 2025. WAEC has cautioned candidates and stakeholders to be wary of fraudsters who may promise to upgrade results for a fee.
