80km roads in Accra revamped under DRIP - Greater Accra RCC
Accra, Ghana - Nov 21, 2024 - The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has revealed that, approximately 80 kilometers of roads across five district assemblies have been revamped, transforming previously inaccessible roads in communities like Awoshie, Sowutuom, Amasaman, Old Barrier, and Weija under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) since its launch in July.
This initiative empowers Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the necessary resources and tools to rehabilitate and maintain local road networks.
Regional Coordinator Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey highlighted the program's impressive progress during a site visit, noting significant improvements in areas such as Weija-Gbawe (Ga South), Ga West, and Ga North.
“I think when we went to Weija-Gbawe, that is Ga South, they gave us 26 kilometres. Currently, we are at Ga West, they have given us almost about 18 kilometres. When we went to Ga North, we were talking about 12 kilometres.
“There has been an addition in other areas too and so in all, we are talking about getting to almost about 80 kilometres of road that has been done within this three, four months by DRIP and I think that is very impressive,'' he stated.
