Think Before You Post: CSA Warns SHS Graduates Against Indecent Online Behavior
Accra ,Ghana – September 25,2025 - The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has issued a stern warning to recent Senior High School (SHS) graduates to exercise prudence and responsibility in their use of social media platforms. The authority expressed concern over the growing trend of indecent and irresponsible posts from some graduates, which could have serious consequences on their future prospects.
According to the CSA, some viral posts from graduates have included concerning language and inappropriate declarations, such as threats like "we go scatter them" and claims about "snatching people's husbands". The authority emphasized that such behavior not only tarnishes personal reputations but also exposes individuals to cyberbullying, harassment, and potential violations of Ghana's cybercrime laws.
The CSA highlighted the long-term impact of irresponsible online activity, noting that universities, scholarship boards, and potential employers frequently review social media profiles during selection processes. Irresponsible content can severely damage one's academic, career, and professional prospects. Moreover, such behavior can lead to exposure to cyberbullying, harassment, grooming, and other forms of exploitation.
The CSA urged graduates to adopt a more constructive approach to their digital interactions, emphasizing the importance of leveraging social media for personal development, networking, and entrepreneurial pursuits. The authority reminded young people that every online action contributes to a permanent digital footprint, which can influence their prospects and public perception for years to come.
To address the issue comprehensively, the CSA assured the public of its commitment to fostering responsible digital citizenship among the youth. The authority in a statement it issued pledged to continue working with the Ministry of Education, civil society organizations, and community leaders to promote awareness and educate young individuals on the importance of ethical online behavior.
