Telecom Operators Must Improve Quality of Service by July Ahead of October Assessment - Sam George

Accra, Ghana - 11 June, 2025 - The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation has announced plans to conduct a comprehensive quality of service assessment on all telecom operators in Ghana during the final quarter of 2025.
The assessment aims to evaluate the performance of telecom companies in providing reliable and efficient services to consumers.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, June 10, Sector Minister Samuel Nartey George revealed that all telecom operators have been directed to make critical investments in their networks during the third quarter to improve service delivery ahead of the assessment.
The Minister warned that any entity that fails to comply with the directive will face severe sanctions. "I have mandated that all operators make critical investments on their networks to improve quality over the next quarter, that is, from July to September. The regulator will commence a vigorous quality of service assessment in the final quarter of the year. That is from October to December. Defaulting operatives will be sanctioned,'' emphasized.
The move is part of ongoing efforts to improve telecom services nationwide and address persistent consumer complaints about poor connectivity, call drops, and internet instability.
Minister George commended the Chief Executive Officers of the country's three major telecom companies for pledging to collectively invest approximately $150 million into network improvements before the end of the year.
This investment, he noted, is a significant step toward enhancing the quality of service and meeting consumer demands.
“I will also at this point commend the CEOs of the three telcos for their pledge commitment to collectively invest approximately 150 million dollars in their networks between now and the end of the year to enhance the quality of service either by acquisition,” he said.
