Talensi NDC Rejects Mahama's DCE Nominee Over Alleged NPP Ties

Talensi, Upper East Region, Ghana - 14 April, 2025 - A faction of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana's Talensi Constituency is up in arms against President John Mahama's nomination of John Millim Naabwomya as District Chief Executive.
The group claims Naabwomya has strong ties to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), which they believe could harm the NDC's prospects in the 2028 elections.
Speaking at a press conference in Tongo on Sunday, April 13, Charles King Luu, spokesperson for the aggrieved NDC members, urged President Mahama to withdraw Naabwomya's nomination immediately.
Luu expressed concerns that the appointment could undermine party unity and local support.
The controversy surrounding Naabwomya's nomination comes on the heels of a suspected arson attack that ravaged the NDC constituency office. The nomination was announced last Friday, April 11.
