President Mahama's Second Term Begins: Full Inaugural Speech
Accra, Ghana - 08 Jan, 2025 - In a ceremony steeped in tradition and historic significance, John Dramani Mahama took the oath of allegiance and the presidential oath, marking the beginning of his term as Ghana's sixth President of the Fourth Republic.
The swearing-in ceremony, conducted by Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, took place on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the iconic Black Star Square in Accra.
In a milestone moment for Ghana's politics, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agymang was also sworn in as the country's first female Vice-President, taking the oath of office and the vice-presidential oath.
Mahama's return to the presidency is a significant one, marking the first time a President under the Fourth Republic has lost an election and reclaimed the office. His previous term as President, from January 7, 2013, to January 6, 2017, was followed by two successive election campaigns, culminating in a decisive victory.
