Speaker Bagbin Refers 7 Supreme Court Nominees to Appointments Committee for Vetting

Accra, Ghana - 28 May, 2025 - Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has forwarded seven Supreme Court nominee appointments, made by President John Mahama, to the Appointments Committee for thorough vetting and reporting in line with Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution.

The nominees include Justices Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh, Senyo Dzamefe, Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, Philip Bright Mensah, Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, and Hafisata Amaleboba. 

In a bid to ensure comprehensive scrutiny, Bagbin directed the Judiciary Committee and the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee to collaborate with the Appointments Committee in evaluating the nominees' suitability for the esteemed positions on the Supreme Court during parliamentary proceedings on tuesday.
